Fears
There are many bugs that scare me, but the one thing that I’m most scared of, are spiders. Just thinking about spiders gives me the shrivels. Seeing a spider slowly crawling up my wall just startles me, giving me goose bumps; I hate watching them crawling up my wall or on the ground finding a place to build a sticky, silk, thin, strong whitish and grayish web to trap all of the little insects that might be around for food. I don’t know why, but I can’t go near a spider at all. I am so scared that I might get bit and have a swollen red arm and discoloration around the bite where the venom was injected causing me to go to the doctors. Once I have spotted a spider I scream loudly telling my mom to kill it. As my mom walks up to it, the spider was a light brown in color but the body was small in size. It had eight long and really skinny legs; you can see it has more than two eyes that were staring right at you. As she was swinging her arm back, about to kill it, the spider freezes in one spot not moving a tiny bit, but as soon as she reaches out for it with her rolled up news paper ready to kill it, it quickly crawls away trying to get away. With one smack the spider smears all over the wall. As she hit the spider all you could hear was something popping and letting out a liquidy texture. All of its body parts are squirted everywhere on the wall leaving one small dirty mess. There is some blood and some white stuff and brown stuff smudged together on the wall. The spider’s legs are in different spots making them hard to find. The spider doesn’t even look like a spider anymore; it is just a big blob full of nasty colors now.

Top 3...
The topic I have chosen is top 3 TV shows. Everyone watches shows that have drama, entertainment which no one gets tired of. Some shows are based on real life stories and some could be a real life story. The top 3 TV shows I have chosen are “The Hills”, “Real World: Hollywood”, and “The OC”. All of these shows have a lot of drama, really entertaining and just makes you want to keep watching more so you know what is going to happen next; they are shows that you get addicted to. All of these shows are based on real life stories or stories that could be real. The criteria for these shows would be drama, entertainment, real life stories, and addicting.
“The Hills” is about a show of teens living there everyday lives; full of drama, betrayal, work, new opportunities, and sometimes giving up certain things to in order to receive something else. The main actors of the show Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, and Audrina Patridge, and Whitney Port are all trying to figure out what they want in life and who they want in their life. All of them use to be friends at one point but then slowly start drifting apart due to betrayals and deceiving one another. At the end Lauren and Heidi hate each other; they don’t want to be friends anymore and don’t want anything to do with each other. This show shows a lot of things that happen in the everyday life of anyone else in the world. “The Hills” is full of drama, excitement, it is based on real life stories of teens, and the show it self is extremely addicting.
The show “Real World: Hollywood” is a show with seven strangers who are picked to live together in one house. Everyone finds out about some good qualities and some bad qualities of the other people in the house. The seven strangers in this season are Joey Kovar, Kim Alexander, David Malinosky, Sarah Ralston, William Gilbert, Brianna Taylor, and Greg Halstead. Joey has an alcohol problem and needs to receive help before he hurts himself or anyone else. Brianna is a stripper, who use to have a drug problem, but now is facing charges from her ex-boyfriend back at home. Everyone is out here to make themselves a better person. All of these strangers are trying to help one another out, and experiencing new opportunities that they can open for themselves. “The Real World: Hollywood” is an excellent show; it is full of a lot of drama, very entertaining and also is based on a real life story.
Another show that has drama, entertainment and might be based on a real life story is “The OC”. This show shows everyday lives of teenagers and there parents. The show is about Ryan Atwood (one of the main characters) who finds himself on his own, finds his way to a rich family which later then accepts him as a part of their family. Some of Ryan’s friends are faced with drug addiction, alcohol problems, and committing suicide. He is trying to help his friends out while trying to straighten up his own life.

Poetic Novels
Never Say Never

I never thought I'd live my life with a needle in my arm.

I never thought I'd live my life with a needle in my arm.
I never meant to treat loved ones this way
or cause any person harm.
I never could have saw myself being a junky at 17.
I sometimes wish that when I open my eyes all this would be a dream.
I never imagined that I would do what I have done just to get high.
I never wanted addiction to be a reason I could die.
I never planned on throwing my life completely down the drain.
I never took the time to think what I was getting myself in.
So Never say Never because you may be like me living a life I
Never wanted to be.
This poem links really well to the novel “Candy.” It demonstrates how Candy never expected her life to turn out the way it did at such a young age. She didn’t know where her life was going to take her. Candy came from a good family; her dad had a good job and had owned a pretty big house. She hadn’t planned on being a prostitute, it just happened from the choices she chose and because of the jealousy from her friends. “I never meant to treat the loved ones this way or cause any person harm,” exemplifies when she didn’t want Joe getting involved in her personal business because she didn’t want to hurt him or get him in trouble in any way. She cared for him and didn’t want him to die because of her pimp Iggy. Joe didn’t want her to be a drug addict anymore so he tried to help her out and tried making her quit. He “never wanted addiction to be the reason [she] could die.” He was willing to do anything to help her stop. From the choices she took, she threw her life “completely down the drain,” and Joe was willing to pull her back out. “I never took the time to think what I was getting myself in,” exemplifies when Joe fell in love with Candy after knowing she was a prostitute and could have died from Iggy. It also demonstrates how Candy didn’t take the time to think about what could happen to her when she began to take drugs. This poem illustrates how no one knows what is going to happen in their future and what they might end up doing, like the way Candy and Joe didn’t know.

Candy: Journal #1
“But explanations don’t change anything, do they? They don’t make you feel any better. You either like something or you don’t, and if you don’t like it, then knowing why it happens doesn’t make any difference – its still going to happen and you’re still not going to like it, so what’s the point?” (Page 59)
In this passage Joe is talking about how he felt when his mom and dad get a divorce. His parents are still seeing each other even after the divorce. To Joe it seems as if his mom wanted a divorce from her own kids instead of his dad. The quote said by his mom, “I don’t want to share you with anyone,” exemplifies that she couldn’t stand seeing her kids with their own dad and she needed him to her self which made her selfish. After the divorce his parents still see each other but his mom didn’t come visit them to see how they were doing. Even though Joe knew that his mom only wanted to get away from his sister and himself it didn’t really make a difference because he knew it was bound to happen anyways, even though he didn’t like it. In my perspective I think that everyone has gotten explanations that they have liked and some they haven’t liked. Everyone knows there are going to be things that are going to happen even though they don’t want them to but no one can stop that from happening, its just part of life. When parents get divorced the kids know why it happened but they still can’t do anything about it to make it stop. Yes, there are going to be things that we might be able to stop from happening but also there also are going to be things that we can’t stop but we still have to keep moving on with our lives. We can’t just be down for something we don’t want to happen. The connection I have made with this passage that makes me understand more about the book is that Joe learned how to move on after accepting the truth about his parents. Another connection in the book with this passage is when Joe meets Candy for the first time. After knowing she was a prostitute he still wanted to see her. Joe didn’t like thinking of Candy as a prostitute but as someone he has a lot of feelings for. In this case I think Joe is going to start understanding who Candy really is and try to help her out of this.

Review
The movie “Vacancy” was a very interesting and tense movie to watch. It is a great movie to watch if you are into horror. The movie itself was so suspenseful it just makes you keep watching. The movie was about this couple that didn’t really get along well with each other and were on the terms to get a divorce, were returning home from a party and they got lost on there way back. The husband decides to take a short cut that he thought he knew about but ended up getting lost. On the way the car breaks down and they ended up walking to this very strange motel, where they decide to stay the night. Then that’s where the horror begins. This is also where the couple become closer and start to understand each other; both of them knew they couldn’t survive this wreck without each other. There are many scenes that you just don’t expect to happen and make you jump out of your seat. The acting done in this movie was really good; they made it seem so realistic. Just the beginning of the movie makes it seem like a good movie to watch. Other horror movies have a lot of gore and make it very uncomfortable to watch but “Vacancy” doesn’t have that much gore to make someone sick. The story of the movie, I thought was very unique; it was different from other movies. In my opinion the ending could have been longer but overall the movie was good to watch.
